The Xbox is not shipping yet, and is still at least 4 months out, so
Gates is promising the 3GHz chip for a future ship date.
Also, from what I understand, the G5 (Power 970) chip in the Xbox 360
is a scaled down version of the chip in the Mac G5s. And when you
remove features of a chip, you lower heat, so you can run at higher
clock rates.
