Interesting that you mention the monitor. I recently purchased a used Apple Multiple Scan 17 Display which seems to have some flickering issues. Since the ADB port runs through it, perhaps it is part of the reason why the keyboard becomes unresponsive when the monitor dies. I have hooked up one of my older 13" units in place of the 17", to see if this happens again during a Disk Verification process. -Adam
