I have it plugged directly into the compter and everything else (mouse, keyb oard, printer, jog shuttle and joystick) is on a hub on the other usb port. And, of course, nothing else is in use on the computer at the time. I guess I could pull everything but the mouse and keyboard if I had to, but it really is a good clean connection.
I considered plugging it into my combo firewire/usb 2 pci card where it could be the sole participant on the bus, but it hasn't been necessary. It would be in the trash if it were even slightly marginal. I suspect there are some pretty good usb 2 audio input devices where there would be plenty of bandwidth. If you are going to do pro work there's no excuse for not using the best equipment you can afford. No question about it. Thanks for your overview of the higher end stuff.
