Plugged the thing in to both my laptop and my desktop and with each one, I can't get it to work. On the desktop (running OS 9.2) I put a floppy in (factory-made clip art disk) and it tells me the disk is not readable by this computer... do I want to initialize (which I DO NOT!!!!) OR, the other result is when I put a floppy in (I have now tried a handful of different ones)... it does nothing - seems to power up (spin up?) the floppy, but it never does mount on the desktop.

Are they 1.44mb floppies? That's all a USB diskette drive will read. If they're older 800k (or 400k) Mac floppies, you won't be able to read them in anything but an older Mac.
