It is easy to damage IDE cables,especially ribbon
cables, if you swap IDE devices a few times. If both
are devices are on the same IDE channel (slave and
maste of the same ribbon) the easiest and cheepest
thing to try is to replace the IDE ribbon cable.
If that dosen't work it might be the channel itself
so try swapping channels. If thas the case and you
need to have 4 drives you'll need a new IDE controler
card (about $75.00 + shipping @ macsales.com)
Hopefully it just a $4.00 cable problem.
On the other hand it might be better to try to boot
from an OS install CD by pressing the letter C durring
boot up to see if it might be an OS software problem
since you don't even have to leave the house or spend
$ for that.
