I have a stock PM G3/300/64/6/CD with the internal ZIP Drive

There appears to be a modem port on the back, but it is not a
telephone jack, it is a round 9-pin port with a telephone icon next
to it

That's not an internal modem. You appear to have a relatively rare Stealth Serial Port or Griffin gPort installed in the modem slot. If the drivers for it are installed you can use older serial devices (modems, printers, etc.). Which OS are you running?

Where could I find a modem to fit this port, or where can I find an
internal modem for this G3

If you wanna replace the serial port with an internal modem I'd ask for one on the Swaplist, or shop on ebay. You could also keep the installed serial port and look for a cheap external serial modem - those are a dime a dozen nowadays.
