That sounds like a good price - how much will shipping to Florida cost
I'm trying to put together a computer for my mother to check her
email - her Dell died and she was quoted $250 to repair it -
meanwhile someone gave me an unused but working Beige G3 - and the
more family and friends I convert to Mac, the less PC support issues
I am asked to handle

Look for extensions that have 'Stealth' or 'Griffin' or 'gPort' in
the name - those would be the drivers for the serial port. Also
check in Apple System Profiler to see if the port shows up, and if
it lists a model name or number and/or the vendor/manufacturer.
OSX probably won't support the Serial port - the external serial
modems I have seen are not cheap - usually around $50
There are OS X drivers for the gPort, probably for the Stealth as
well. If you can find out which it is you may be able to d/l the
software from the mfr's website. Used serial modems can be had at
reasonable prices via the Swaplist. Heck, I have a ZOOM 56K
Dualmode you can have for $20; solid and dependable but I don't use
dial-up at all any more....
