Well maybe I was a bit optimistic (or pessimistic, depends on the point
of view).
Considering that I managed to buy my QS this year (4 years after its
introduction) and intel based towers are one or two years away,
realistically I will have an intelmac tower in 2010 or 2011, so it's
more like five/six years away.
However we all will eventually have one, provided Apple will succeed in
the transition, and I am very confident Apple will pull through also
this time.
And for those who hope to install OSX for intel in a PC, I am afraid
Apple will also succeed in foiling their attempts, simply won't let you
do it.
Didn't Intel chips have some kind of "DRM inside" (that's why they
changed the logo;-). If not there will be a bootROM of some kind
without which the OS won't load, whatever ...
Anyway we are just a few days away from the first announcements, so
let's see ...

I doubt thats true. I planned on using my Sawtooth for that many
years.
But since I damaged it, Im getting a QuickSilver. So, now I plan on
using
that for several more years. Then I think I want a G5 Quad (though
realistically I see myself getting like a dual 2GHz G5 in 3 years).
Unless an Intel Mac can be bought for the same price as an "old
G5" and
have at least equal performance, I think a lot of people will be
sticking to
PPC. That is, until some of the latest software that you really need
or want to
run is available only to Intel users.
