I hardly need my fancily fitted out 7300 (lotsa hds, usb, ram, G3/4 upgrade cpu etc...). Must prepare a minimised 7300 with a 200 cpu I have kicking about...
I found some stability and speed problems with both OS 8.6 and 9 when using LT/Bridge and File Sharing. The printer speed drops to nil when an AFP connection is running and the 7300 crashed every week or two. Perhaps a memory leak somewhere?
This has given me thoughts: what about dusting off a beaut iici I have sitting doing nothing (ah, forget if I have an ethernet card for it around?)...
It would work, but you might not like the printer speed.
( I will probably want a bit of file sharing as well at some stage if only to access the zips attached to the older Powermacs, then I look more closely at other instructions, e.g., Bruce's. In the meantime, I like that there is less likely any slowdown when fs is off)
File Sharing with JAZ and ZIP discs is odd. It works, but sometimes it gets a death grip on the disc - won't let you eject it until you turn File Sharing off.
