Bruce Johnson writes, <It probably has a lot to do with the size of your hand. Mine is somewhat large, and it fits perfectly right on the trackball.
If your hands aren't exactly the right size I can see the issues you would have with them. I never did like Kensington's Orbit models, and Logitech's TrackMans, the ones where you move the ball with your thumb, makes my hand ache after just minutes of use, though I suspect that with some use I'd be able to use them. Actual mice fell almost alien to my hand now.> Hmmm, Bruce, maybe THAT's why I hate trackballs with a purple passion -- I definitely have small hands. A good friend of mine in the past had one (and was a lot like you: refused to even own a mouse!), I tried it while playing trying to do something on his computer, and ohhhhh gawwwdddd...awful! I always wondered how people could use those things until now with this suggestion about hand size. <There's also a retraining bit, switching does feel awkward for a little while. Its like trackpads on laptps. Lots of folks run right out and get mice for them, instead of learning to use the trackpad. But then they're always looking for someplace to put the damn thing when they use it, and have to lug it along.> Well, while I do best with my mouse on the desktop computer in the apartment (and will never touch a trackball ever again if I can help it, hee hee), I did immediately train myself to use the trackPAD on my Powerbook when I got it, even though I had an extra mouse I could have used without stealing the mouse from my G3. I became competent with the trackpad -- comfortable enough to the point where I never, ever bring a mouse with me when I take the Powerbook out, but the fact is, I still do my pointy-clicky stuff the best with a mouse. Maybe because of my small hands? Or perhaps because I was mousebroken ;-) in 1986 and didn't start semi-regularly using a trackpad until 2003? Oh yeah, my main mouse is an Apple Desktop Bus Mouse II which I've been using since I originally bought my 7200/120 about ten years ago. My spare mice (I now have three stashed in my file cabinet) are two more of the same, plus a MacAlly One Button Mouse. ~Yersinia. ________ "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can change, and the weaponry to make the difference." -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
