Can this be done in any way? How can get rid of all OS X crap that thinks me and my wife and each of the creatures in the fish tank nees a separate account?
If you and yours are able to restrain themselves and not clobber each other's files... go for it. Create a single account and set it to auto-login.
Personally, I think this is a mistake. I think you should have one admin account (for system maintenance and upgrades) and then each human (or fish) should have their own regular user account.
The separation of admin and user accounts means you cannot accidentally kill the Mac or its OS, nor can any 3rd party app spazz out and do so without your explicit permission (manually typing in the admin username and password). The separation of user accounts means you each have your own file areas - so you don't have to worry about clobbering each others files and such. You can easily share files by dumping them in the /Users/Shared folder.
I also want to put my jpgs where I want and do not feel like arguing with i-this and i-that over it. How can this be done?
Just don't use the iLife apps, or figger out how to redirect them. - Dan. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
