Not sure I understand your questions, but here is some help: open System preferences and then the CD/DVDs pane. There you can tell the Mac NOT to open iTunes when inserting a CD, forexample.

And nobody forces you to have more than one account. In another System preferences pane (Accounts) you can tell the machine to log in automatically as that account.

But if you do HAVE a wife, what would be more logical than her having her own account? Then she will have her own desktop, her own settings for everything, her own bookmarks when surfing, etc. In effect, two machines in one.

I wouldn't say the creatures in your fish tank needs accounts, but then of course I don't know what you keep in it... 8-)

Can this be done in any way? How can get rid of all OS X crap that
thinks me and my wife and each of the creatures in the fish tank nees a
separate account?

I also want to put my jpgs where I want and do not feel like arguing
with i-this and i-that over it. How can this be done?
