Thanks to Bruce for helping me > clarify things (pun intended.) > ______________________________________ Your purpose needs to be considered. How will your work be viewed? Video is 72 dpi. But higher dpi scans will retain detail so scaling in the editor does not lose as much. Print output is generally 300 dpi. Again higher dpi scans do not lose detail when scaling. How much detail do you need? The higher the scanning dpi the more detil is retained. Also the bigger the files will be and the more RAM and disk scratch space will be needed as well as more storage space. An Epson USB scanner with a dpi of 2400 or above fills most of my video and print needs. Physically larger documents will require a large bed scanner. Or multiple scans pieced together will be needed which makes more work and can result in less satisfactory.images. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
