I meant of course "Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives," and apologize
for the typo.

I only have experience with earlier OWC miniStacks. My first v1
miniStack failed within a few weeks. Two replacement units also
failed quickly. It seemed to me that either the early miniStacks had
design or quality problems, or that OWC might have recycled faulty
units. After the quick failure of the third unit, I wrote the OWC
owner, who arranged to send me a brand-new v2 unit. It has worked
well without problems.

For some reason the OWC miniStacks have had problems with Seagate
drives all along. The v1 units would not physically accommodate
certain Seagate drives, apparently because those were slightly larger
than drives of other common brands.

I like Seagate drives, and have bought quite a number over the years.
In order to avoid possible incompatibility with third-party
enclosures, such as the OWC miniStacks, I recently bought a FreeAgent
Pro 1TB drive, directly from Seagate in their own enclosure with
triple interface (eSata, FireWire, USB), for only $99. It has worked
flawlessly.
