Since on sale, and being a Seagate, I went on and purchased the 1.5TB sata ST315005N1A1AS-RK, and it functions in the NewerTech v2.5 case.
Took about 12 hours to Erase with Zeroing to format into 1 partition of 1.36 TB (1,500,301,910,016 Bytes). As 1 partition of 1.5TB, and with different partitioning schemes of 2 (1000,397) (698.63,698.63) QuickBench gives R/W of about 38 / 36 MB/sec. I'm guessing this speed is due to the Firewire 400Mb/s boundary? Know of any other tests I could perform, to illustrate any issues with efficiency due to a partition being greater than 1TB (current claim by NewerTech's Tech Staff at OWC, is they recommend partitioning with at least 2 partitions (1TB, .5TB) for this particular enclosure). --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
