What a coincidence, this morning I used CCC to back up my month old MacBook to the external HD II picked up on sale a couple of days ago. I feel better already. ;-) Happy New Year, all. Bob PS - When I reinitialized the new drive yesterday, I got crazy and let DU write zeros (ISTR seeing that recommended by someone on this list - Dan maybe?). FYI, it took 5.5 hours to do a 500 GB HD.
