I donno much about Verizon's infrastructure for DSL... but FWIW, several friends here (I realize we're at the other end of the state from you) are having problems also. They loose connectivity, most often while idle, but sometimes when not, then no DHCP server responds to their router (or Mac if connected directly). This started in early December, and continues as of yesterday.
