BACK UP YOUR DATA !!!! Do it TODAY. Don't Delay! JUST DO IT. CarbonCopyCloner <http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html> SuperDuper! <http://www.shirt-pocket.com/> The preceding has been brought to you by the brain cramps caused by watching too much Twilight Zone. Time to switch to Dr Who. Or maybe Buffy. Or maybe ....> STAR TREK. :-D Seriously. Yes, I did decide to update my backups today in response to your suggestion, but I don't have a FW drive and am still stuck with the little LaCie with USB. Which, I just found out a few days ago, will not "see" more than 128 GBs on a HD -- while my BF was here we tried to put one of my "new" 250 GB drives in it...but it still works with the "little" 40 GB so until we think of something else (which I can AFFORD to buy if he doesn't have home in his pack rat stash), this is what I got and I have to make the best of it. OWC SUCKS EQUINE EXCREMENT (their Mercury Elite Pro 500 GB was supposed to be my wonderful new BOOTABLE backup drive). The damn thing doesn't work on ANY of my Macs (hey Dan I LOST that 286 day uptime on the iBook thanks to that freakin' thing) and they refuse to send me a brand new one that works or refund my money. I'm sick of it (I sent it back 3x already), sick of them, and since my BF says it might work with Linux, I gave it to him so someone can get some use out of it, and, I never have to see the thing again myself much less keep shipping it back and forth. I will never deal with OWC ever again. Also the high speed internet (Verizon DSL) is not playing nice with my ethernet network, so what I thought would be an EASY way to maintain my triple redundant data backup system isn't flying (the alias thing you suggested on AIM doesn't help, sorry), and I can't even GET an uptime of a week or more on either the Mini or Quicksilver if I try to keep it going (by re-establishing it when it goes down, which it does unless I UNPLUG THE DSL MODEM while transferring data to other drives on the network). Oh well. :-( I'm really hating computers and computer stuff these days, but I feel like a heroin addict -- gotta quit but...can't. Happy new year, all, and I hope yours will be better than mine. ~Yersinia. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
