So, G-Group: Why are you (still) PowerPC-based Mac users?

They still do what I need them to do. My oldest G is a G3 Gossamer (Beige G3) upgraded with a G4 Sonnet card. It's set up to boot into everything from OS 8.6 to X.3.9, and is still my primary computer for e-mail & page layout. My newest G is a G4 FW800 which I picked up second-hand a few years ago to do my web-browsing and the more memory-intensive Photoshop work. I also have a G3 Wallstreet Powerbook (running 9.1, used only once in a great while on trips), and an eMac for my kids.

Of the two main computers I use, the Gossamer is by far the more reliable, though a bit slow. The FW800 tends to get a bit hot and needs restarting once or twice in the course of a day. But I don't have any major complaints about either one. They're doing what I need them to do.

I anticipate that a day will come when I need a Mac with an Intel processor for some newfangled piece of software or if websites stop working properly on my older browsers, but thus far that day seems to be years up the road.
