What I do have is a USB 2.0 card and a WD My book attached to it. Also I have a usb hub connected to the card but nothing is ever connected to it while I put the computer to sleep. How would I find out if my card supports sleep or not? I can MANUALLY put my G4 to sleep but it will not sleep automatically. Thanks so far for all the advice knowledge and tips. This is going a lot better than I thought it would!!!!!!

It is usually the chipset, not the attached devices doing this. To test it, disconnect everything from the USB 2 card and see if it goes to sleep on time like it's supposed to.
