So I think I figured it out. I disconnected the card. Set the automatic sleep settings to 2 min. AND... Still nothing. I started to think what could be the problem. Then it hit me!!!! MY SONNET UPGRADED PROCESSOR!!!!!!!!!!! I never tried this machine out without this processor. I looked up the manual and come to find out the processor does and does not support sleep. So now my question is "is there an apple script that I can write and create so as to whenever the screen goes to sleep the computer will sleep after a given amount of time?" I know I need to take this to the apple script group and I will but just asking in case anyone in this G3-4 list is in that list as well has an understanding as to where I am coming from. THankS to AlL ReplIes!!!!

What I do have is a USB 2.0 card and a WD My book attached to it. Also I have a usb hub connected to the card but nothing is ever connected to it while I put the computer to sleep. How would I find out if my card supports sleep or not? I can MANUALLY put my G4 to sleep but it will not sleep automatically. Thanks so far for all the advice knowledge and tips. This is going a lot better than I thought it would!!!!!!

It is usually the chipset, not the attached devices doing this. To test it, disconnect everything from the USB 2 card and see if it goes to sleep on time like it's supposed to.
