OS X != Linux. there is only one GUI.

That said switching to OSX can be problematic for OS 9 users. I've shepherded
a number of people through the transition from Windows and Classic OS to OS X,
and oddly the Windows folks pick it up more quickly.

My theory is that they're *expecting* large differences and so are more open to
the changes, while OS X is JUST close enough to OS 9 to be familiar and just
different enough to mess you up.

The single thing that causes the most heartburn are the simplified open and
close dialogs in programs. Show her that clicking the reveal arrows to show the
full file system interface, and that it has to be done on each program, but
just once, and things will go a LOT more smoothly.

(I had one professor frustrated enough to pack up his brand new G5 and ship it
back over that "What do you MEAN I can ONLY save things to Documents or the
Desktop!!! And how do I find my other files????!!!!!")
