To make this easier, I am going to reply to each of you in this one email. The problem:
<I have a G4 flat screen iMac (the kind with the half ball on the bottom) that is supposed to boot into OS 9 and X. I am running 10.4.11. I tried booting into 9 and it won't do it. Classic will run OK, though. Somehow it is screwed up somewhere. I need to boot up in 9 to retrieve some stuff off of a floppy disk. I have the the original disks that came with the iMac and also the Tiger install Cds. How do fix this so I can boot up in 9 and not break anything else??? Jane > -------------- <To boot into OS 9 I believe that it must have had OS 9 drivers installed on the hard drive when the drive was set up. If you go to the Start Up Disk in System Preferences, do you see OS 9 listed? Ken > Ken, the OS 9 drivers are there and I have started up in 9 before. But it will NOT start up in 9 now. I even had to run Disk Warrior to get it back to boot in 10.4. Everything else is working just fine. ------------------------------- <Have you tried to boot by selecting the OS9 folder in Start Up disk in system preferences while running Tiger? I am using a LaCie USB external floppy drive that I have used on this computer before. I just now hooked up the floppy drive and put in the disk. The green light came on, it made noises like it should, then the green light went off. Nothing showed up on the desk top while it was in Tiger 10.4.11. Then I started OS 9 from the desk top and still nothing showed up. These floppies are commercial (OLD 1994) with graphics on them. I just thought that if I booted up in 9, I could open the floppies and drag the graphics to my iMac. I don't think it came with a driver. Or if it did, I don't know where it would be. Where do I look on my hard drive to see if the driver is there?
