Hi! I’ve upgraded my G3 B&W software installation using a G4/G5 – (I’ve put the HDD from the G3 temporarily into a G4 and a G5 for updating its installation).
On the G3 I had iTunes 9.0.3 running okay, even though it’s not officially supported. Now, I thought, I'd update it to 9.2.1 (latest 9) only to see it’s now telling me: “G4 or G5 processor required.” Since iTunes 9 is still compiled for Tiger, it will (like 9.0.3) normally only be optimized for G4 i.e. AltiVec, but run nicely without it (it just won’t use AltiVec then, meaning it will run non-optimized, but it will run). Apparently Apple decided to not allow this. So, here my question: Will iTunes 9.1.1 run on a G3? If so, will it be possible to “downdate” iTunes? (What’s the opposite of “update”?) I’ve got the offline installation dmgs for 9.1.1 and, should it be neccessary, 9.0.3 available. Thanks in advance!
