Outsch!

If you use a gray installation disc, that is from an Intel-Mac, you will
propably have no luck trying to install it on a PowerPC-Mac.

The “Retail” version is good on both Intel and PowerPC, hence Universal.

So, where’s the problem then?
It is the kernel. The gray Mac-specific installation discs have a slim Intel-
only Mach kernel on them, so it will simply say “This architecture is not
supported by this kernel” or similar.

All other things, all applications, are “universal” still.

The first Intel-based Macs could use an APM formated HDD. The newer ones, that
were shipped with 10.6 and newer, propably aren’t any longer.

Natuarlly, an IDE HDD will not be able to connect to a SATA bus, except when
you use an adapter/converter.

As far as I remember this is true for DVD-R, but unfortunatelly not for DVD+R.
