Hi all,

Quicksilver 2002 800 single cpu
Mac os 10.4.11 Tiger
172GB startup drive
280GB additional data drive (not part of startup user but includes another user also on Tiger)

Recently this G4 has decided to shutdown when requested to sleep.

Occasionally it shuts down when not requested (while not working/ active).

I have replaced the battery, tried different startup drives, and...

removed power plug, removed battery, pressed power button, pressed smu/pmu/? button on motherboard ONCE...

Apple 17" ADC replaced by an old 15" non-adc screen (as it seems to be associated with sleeping - a timed screen sleep causes shutdown)...

all to no avail - it still cannot sleep but insists on a shut down.

Any ideas anyone?

Regards

Ged Cornish
