As for your first question, you'll just have to select the closest course, 
which would be fifteen or zero.
  As for your second question, Final Conflict is a turn-based game, meaning 
that you make your move, then the enemy makes theirs. I've noticed that 
enemies tend to attack right after you make a move, so of course you 
wouldn't be able to fight back until it was your turn to move again. It's 
basically like Chess in that you move and then the opponent(s) do. It's 
annoying, yes, since sometimes you can end up losing the ship before it's 
even your turn to move again. You just have to wait until your menu comes 
back up again, then set the besieged ship to defend itself and, if their are 
any other of your ships close enough, have them lend a hand.



It ain't pretty when the pretty leaves you with no place to go.
