Yeah, that has happened to me on a couple of ocations as well. I forgot 
demo mode was turned on, and was playing along and oops demo timed out.
Of course, I did allot of testing for demo mode so there were several 
games I played to test and ended up scrapping the missions so I know the 
frustration in not being able to complete the game. You know what?
That is how the game sells. Grin.
