Hi Nicol,
Have you ever tried Troopenum 2? In that game the enemy ships drop bonus 
items like power ups, extra points, ground nukes, warps, etc and when 
you shoot the bonus items you don't know which one you got until you 
shoot it down.
That is kind of cool in that game. It makes every game different, and 
you can't just decide to grab a ground nuke, points, etc and you 
randomly get something when you shoot at the falling bonus item.
I can see your point in arcade games finding bonus items, but not 
knowing what bonus item it is until you acquire it. It makes games 
slightly more interesting and different doesn't it?
