And don't forget Aliens in the Outback, either.  A ship passes overhead and, 
if you shoot it, drops a payload.  You don't know what's in it, but if you 
run over and pick it up quickly enough, you can use the contents later.  If 
you don't get there quickly enough, it vaporizes, and you never know what 
was in it.  It is usually a missile, the ability to move across the screen 
faster, adding machine gun capability to your weapon, or some other nice 
little gem.
