Problem was also, from my side that tried taking a copy of a windows XP
virtual machine, to then try run the windows8 installation/upgrade
inside/into it, and it pretty much immediately told me virtual hardware
wasn't compatible/enough.
And, will also just mention that specific to windows8, when tried to install
the release candidate trial on my one slightly older primarily windows XP
laptop, biggest issue was that it's built-in realtek sound card/adapter
seemed to be incompatible with windows 8 after install - had to use it along
with a slightly newer external USB sound-card/adapter to get any sound at
all, and my guess is that windows 8 isn't too backward compatible, or
something, since while the laptop isn't newest piece of machinery, sound
card still works fine since rolled it back to windows XP only installlation.
Stay well

Subject: Re: [Audyssey] DosBox questions
Hi josh,
Well, that is not necessarily true though. I am a dedicated Linux
user, and have tried Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 all
in virtual machines and the truth is that not all run equally well in
a virtual machine. XP requires a lot less resources than does Windows
7 so its not difficult to get XP to run decently in a virtual machine.
However, Windows Vista and Windows 7 have that 3d Windows Arrow
interface that is a CPU and memory hog, and really needs direct access
to your graphics hardware rather than have it emulated virtually. As a
result it doesn't seem to matter what OS is the host OS Windows 7 runs
very poorly in virtual machines do to the higher than usual hardware
specifications. Point being don't judge virtual machines on the basis
of say how well XP runs on Linux in VMWare Player and assume Vista and
Windows 7 run equally well because they don't.
Cheers!

yes virtual machines are choppy under windows. if you run them under
linux they work great like if sonar was your primary OS rather than
windows7 then your virtual machines would run nice and fast.
