I definitely got your point. I just wanted to make sure you knew that
Aero could be disabled as you were blaming it for much of the slowdown
in Vista and Windows 7.

virtual machine. Windows 7 seems to be something of a resource hog,
and uses a whole lot more resources to run than XP on the same system.
Windows Arrow just makes the problem worse if it is enabled.

I'm pretty sure that switching to a classic desktop theme turns off Aero.
In the past I've always switched to a classic theme because it was
higher contrast and my vision could pick up a bit more. These days I am
in a high contrast theme and don't believe Aero is running.
If you don't benefit from the Aero visuals anyway it's definitely
something to consider to help things run better.
