The big difference between Jaws and other screen readers is that
Freedom Scientific sets a special keyboard hook that is incompatible
with other input APIs such as Microsoft's DirectX. Therefore in order
to make Jaws cooperate it is often necessary to unload Jaws or at the
very least put it to sleep so the Jaws keyboard hook doesn't interfere
with game operations. NVDA, Window-Eyes, and Supernova don't have this
sort of hook so one usually need not worry about experiencing the same
issue with games. That is why users of say Window-Eyes have less
troubles in this area than do Jaws users.
