Certainly not, Sryth is about the only text rpg I know that really! is an rpg, complete with plot and exploration.
Games like Kingdom of Loathing, Warrior's 2 and the Logd derivatives come close, but sinse in those games the plot is endlessly repeating and there isn't half as large an exploration factor as in Sryth, I'd only reguard them as almost, ----- though your of course welcome to disagree with me about those games. Please note, I have nothing against stats, ganing experience or leveling, I am just getting slightly cheesed off with games in which that is the entire be all and end all of the game, rather than the developement of the plot, --- assuming of course there is! a plot. "And you got up one morning in the village of item shops, and suddenly decided to be the best warrior/mage in all of generica, so went to the dungeon of randomly occurring monsters to get some experience and cash" this is not! a plot, this is an excuse for grinding! Obviously, your charactor is going to have to be a good warrior if they want to do something major like fight of a dusk dragon, but imho the emphasis should be disposing of the dragon and it's effects on the game world, not simply having more numbers after your name. Please also note people, that due to university connection issues, I am unable to connect to or play muds, so what I say here is aimed simply at brouser based online rpg's, of which I've tried many.
