Thomas, I think you need to re read my message, I never recommended
running the system that way and I'm pretty sure Jim didn't either. You have
stated your point about Vista security like 5 times in seperate messages
now, I think we got it dude.
I assure you I have spent plenty of time researching all kinds of things
about computers and security and many other topics that have little to do
with gaming, but I don't get on a soapbox and send multiple messages out
about them to this list.
I don't have a problem with the bluntness or whatever you want to call it,
what I do have a problem with is your attitude on list sometimes, and that
is an attitude of superiority to us other developers, an attitude I find
completely unwarranted given the fact you have a much more diminutive track
record of released games than most of the blind developers out there.. You
can talk all you want about superior programming languages and techniques,
but the proof is in the pudding as they say.
I am not alone in this irritation either, as I have talked to other
developers and gamers that share my view.
Lots of times you post things on list aimed at a specific developer about
programming that should go to that developer off list, and it seems that you
are posting on list only to feel superior to everyone, or show us all how
smart you are or some similar ego thing.
I don't need you to educate me on a friggin thing frankly, I tried that
once and it was a dry well, and your statement that you want to educate me
or any other developer is insulting. If you want to spread information, or
offer advice that is cool, but to educate from on high is not your place in
my opinion.
I joined this list to discuss games and gaming, not programming
information, or security standards, and I am sure many other members feel
the same way, and I wonder if a non moderating member would get by with it.
There are list for discussing programming, but this isn't one of them.
We all respect you Thomas, don't get me wrong, both as a developer and as
a person giving time to moderate this list, but please don't think that
being one of the mods is a license to preach to the rest of us hard working
game developers, because we're doing just fine on our own.
If any of the other developers on list disagree with me here in substance
if not in degree, I'd like to know. I have a feeling there will be no
takers.
Now then, back to gaming, eh?
Later,
Che
