Hi Jim,
Yeah, despite Pong's apparent age it still has a healthy number of 
followers. I have also seen my share of sample Pong games in game 
programming books. It is usually demonstrated as a first full game 
project because of the simple graphics, symplicity of the code, and one 
on one play it offers.
