what about licensing when you sell your games and such?
that will be pretty expensive?

Yep. Sure could if Jim was willing to rewrite waver to use something like
FMOD instead of DirectSound 8. Not only could it play mp3s, but it could be
turned into a media player that supports wav, flak, mp3, wma, ogg, etc just
by converting it over to that library. Over the past couple of months I've
fallen in love with FMOD for that reason, and personally think it blows
DirectSound and XAudio away on a feature by feature comparison. That's why
the upgraded Genesis Engine now uses it for audio support.
