To be honest, I'd rather not use an external drive perminantly just because
of the need for more powerpoints, cables etc.
while I'm very fond of my external 2 Tb drive, I only want it out when i'm
actually backing stuff up.
I got a new internal E drive attached to my desktop last year, which I use
for audio books and music.
i suppose I could also transfer all my text documents onto there instead of
using the "my documents" folder for them, however while 4 mb is a lot of
text, it's equally not much in terms of actual space, but why microsoft
expects pictures, music and other stuff to go in there I don't know.
which is why i created several folders directly on the C (and now moved
onto the E), drive, such as c:\music and C:\audio even C:\text games for all
my zcode etc files.
this is again why i don't like the idea of windows 7, sinse I prefer having
full access to all folders on the drive and knowing where I! put things.
music goes in C:\music, not in some random subdirectory, especially sinse
I've occasionally had to diversify in folders, for instance I've recently
separated all the material related to my actual singing such as
accompanyments, recordings of my singing lessons etc, into one folder
separate from my music folder so that when I stick my entire music folder on
playaback in winamp and hit shuffle (as I sometimes do when washing up), I'm
not treated to just! the piano accompanyment to handel's messiah or having
my very scary singing teacher yelling at me about the position of my
eyebrows! :D.
Beware the grue!
dark.
