Well tom you look at this from a programmer who actually cares about the os,
I myself don't.
A computer is to me just a tool to do what I want with, and if windows 7
won't do what I want, it is a bad tool end of story.
This is exactly why I'm still on xp, since I've still! not had a good reason
to switch to windows 7. People say it's more powerfull, faster, secure
whatever, but it has a far less friendly interface and actually would stop
me running more things than it would give me access to, (indeed I haven't
yet heard of anything besides airic the clerric that only runs on windows 7
that I would wish to do). That is why I will likely stick with xp until
someone gives me a good reason to change, and frankly i wish microsoft had
done the same rather than being money grabbing capitalist gits who kicked 20
years of compatibility in the face.
Just as contrast, just before cchristmas I bought the original mega man game
for the gameboy. It is close to being 26 years old, yet still runs fine on
my gb player. Do i care that it is not the latest? hell no! it works and
it's fun, and what nintendo are doing now is not accessible, indeed in an
ideal world I'd myself prefer if they were still releasing games for the
snes since most of those I could play, (one reason I keep downloading extra
turrican levels which thankfully are! still being developed by hobbyist
programmers).
of course if I could see and use dosbox this might be different, just as it
would be different if I could see and play a wii, but neither is true, and
ultimately to me it's what technology can do for me that matters.
Beware the Grue!
Dark.
