Actually, I made several updates to the 3.1.x STATUS file in r1716, which you then removed in r1721. Included in this was a +1 for this very patch. This link has details of my additions: http://ganglia.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ganglia/branches/monitor-core-3.1/STATUS?r1=1715&r2=1716 Regarding Ofer Inbar's comments about using hostnames in RRD files, I agree that we should keep the hostnames in the RRD files. I don't see that moving to an arbitrary ID of some sort gains us anything, whereas the benefits of having hostnames in the RRD filename are many. The issue with long hostnames in graphs is a side-effect of trying to use the same variable ("$hostname") for too many things. This is fairly deeply embedded in the front-end code, and while there is a work-around in trunk, it could be handled more elegantly. But, the problem is fundamentally a *display* problem, not one dealing with how the RRD files are stored (thankfully!). -- Jesse Becker GPG Fingerprint -- BD00 7AA4 4483 AFCC 82D0 2720 0083 0931 9A2B 06A2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Ganglia-general mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/ganglia-general
