It is not cheap by my standards, but would soon be recovered if used to replace gas cylinders usually associated with the types of welding possible. As these things are sold through country Franchise, my guess is that the US market has hefty fees attached to the direct dealers, possibly slowing down their distribution. You could of course pay the extra and freight one in from New Zealand, but you would need to be desperate. Alternately, get a tourist to bring one home for you, and they can buy it without tax at this end.
