How cute! Did you still have the male in the tank with her? My female has
two sets of eggs laid behind a large piece of bark that is situated in the
middle of the tank. The first set has been there, I think 3 months. I hear
they can take as long as 200 days to hatch though, so I am keeping my
fingers crossed. I need to get a thermometer in the tank, because it is
situated on the cool side of the room. I can't get this room too hot
because some of my inhabitants do not like it more than 83F.
The first set looked like they were getting more dark in color when I
candled them last. The second set looked pink inside. The shells are very
thick on my eggs, so i can not get a great view of the contents. Although
that may be partially due to me using a flash light. I keep forgetting to
get a new bulb for my egg candler. I have not done a candling in a while
though.
Momma is still watching the eggs closely. She sits there with her front
feet wrapped around those eggs, like a dragon guarding its treasure. If I
mess with her, the male runs over to check on things. It sure is fun
watching their interactions. I am also waiting for the flyer eggs to hatch
also. They were laid around the same time as the Tokay eggs. Unfortunately
they just ate the one egg that I could not cover. The other two are still
covered and doing well.
I was also blessed with two Gehyra mutilata eggs yesterday. Saw the gravid
female at Petco and purchased her for my male (AKA the Malaysian mystery
gecko). Anyone have any tips on incubating these. I was thinking about just
hatching them out in the gecko room in a deli cup. I was going to put them
on a bottle cap, and place the cap on top of some damp vermiculite.
I may be a little silly for working with these guys, since they are
everywhere. My little male stowaway has such a cool past, that he has a
high sentimental value to me. Since he is going to be a permanent fixture
here, I need to make him happy. This makes wife #2. I found wife #1 at East
Bay Vivarium and had to pay a little extra to have them fish out the right
species of house gecko out of a 30 gallon tank. ;>
