Yours is definitely different than mine. He is a lot bigger than that, and
he is different shades of grey with a little brown in some areas. I will
have to borrow my father's digital camera and post a picture of him to see if
anyone recognizes him. He is turning ashy right now, so I assume he is
getting ready to shed. I take this as a good sign that he is healthy. Thank
you for your reply!

<< Hi Tobey,
My Malaysian mystery gecko was keyed out as Gehyra mutilata. Tony Gamble
was kind enough to help me key him out. He is just a little brown house
gecko that came in a shipment of furniture from Malaysia. He stepped out
when the crate was opened. I have found a few of these guys mixed in with
other house geckos species, but they do not seem to be as common. My little
guy is very small (~2'' snout to vent) and can change from light tan to
dark brown. He has some spiky scales that stick out on the sides of the
tail.
I just keep him in a large critter keeper at normal room temperature
(72-74F) and he and his wives do quite well. They mostly hide under a piece
of bark, but the females are more brave about coming out of cover. I have
now moved him into the warmer herp room and they still seem happy.
