Many thanks for the info. He is definitely a "Gekko Grossmanni". That
picture you referenced looks exactly like him. He has now gained use of his
ability to climb the glass sides of his terrarium (he could not for a couple
of weeks after I rescued him from the petstore), and though I am delighted
that he is getting healthier, I was not so delighted when I opened the top to
put crickets in and he lept out onto the blinds and made his way onto the
ceiling in my apartment! It took me 30 min. to corral him into a reachable
area to return him to the tank. He is so darn flighty and quick. Is there
anything I can do to calm him a bit? I'm a little nervous now to open his
cage to feed him, because I don't want him leaping out every time. And by
the way, he tried several times to snap at me when I caught him to put him
back in his home. All attempts failed. That little devil... :o)

This is probably Gekko grossmanni. THere is a picture at www.gekkota.com.

These geckos are related to tokays, and most information about keeping
tokay (G.gecko), golden (G.ulikovskii) and white-striped (G.vittatus)
geckos applies to these guys too.
