Hi Tobey,
My Malaysian mystery gecko was keyed out as Gehyra mutilata. Tony Gamble
was kind enough to help me key him out. He is just a little brown house
gecko that came in a shipment of furniture from Malaysia. He stepped out
when the crate was opened. I have found a few of these guys mixed in with
other house geckos species, but they do not seem to be as common. My little
guy is very small (~2'' snout to vent) and can change from light tan to
dark brown. He has some spiky scales that stick out on the sides of the tail.
I just keep him in a large critter keeper at normal room temperature
(72-74F) and he and his wives do quite well. They mostly hide under a piece
of bark, but the females are more brave about coming out of cover. I have
now moved him into the warmer herp room and they still seem happy.
