Hmmm .... well, the animals I talked about in my mail will eat about anything
- the DO take (house-)crickets very happily, even though they seem to have
come from the same source as yours ... (cepediana, ornata, guimbeaui). But
I have noticed that they don´t like them anymore after certain mineral and /
or
vitamin supplements have been put on them - I use three different products,
and they only accept two of them. With the third, they will bite but then drop
the cricket, and wait until the dust has weared off ... ;-)
Their favorite foods though are wax-worms and -moths, friutflies (I have
poison-
dart frogs with them, and they love to catch the little fruitflies these get
;-) ), and
they make races for fresh banana as soon as it´s in the cage ... :-)
> ...The Hawaiian Guimbeui will eat crix however ...
Hmm, Hawaiian Guimbeaui ... I heard there are Phelsuma living free in Florida
(madagascariensis), and that some species thrieve on Hawaii, but never got
details ... anyone got some for me? Are there stable populations, or are they
just living in breeders facilities? And can they be sold officially, or are
they
"becoming CB" after a while ... ??? As far as I know, none of the Mascarene-
Phelsumas have been allowed to be officially exported in the last few years
...
so if there are supposed WC animals to be bought currently, where do they
come from? After all especially guimbeaui guimbeaui is facing severe danger
of extinction, as coming from a rather small habitat that is getting smaller
and smaller due to deforestation and such. And inexpectata ... :-(
Regards, Hartmut
