Not a worry! Monday's inbox full of gecko messages is one of my favorite
things, and I wouldn't give it up!
Thanks for setting me strait about CO2 for putting down herps, I was unsure
if that was applicable.
I'm going a bit crazy here at the Zoo putting my ducks in a row for the
coming show...look forward to seeing some of you there.

FWIW - if you are using CO2 - the freezing is unnecessary. Killing feeder
animals precludes a number of more humane options (drug residues are
undesirable
in feeder rodents) and is not the same as euthanizing an animal.

For a number of reasons this discussion, I suspect, is very different.. For
instance - CO2 is a bad choice in herps because they tolerate anoxia for far
longer periods of time.

Josh, while I would hate for this discussion to drive you away, I do feel
that
it is important. Many, many people get this advice from the internet, and
subsequently act on it. The feeling, by people whom are considered experts
in
pain management and euthanasia, is that it is not pain free, and it is in
fact
an undesirable method. How we treat these animals if the situation warrants
euthanasia is every bit as important as how we treat them when they are
alive.
I think it is a measure of the importance of this issue that people are so
passionate about it. I would agree that a flame war is never necessary -
and I
apologize if my remarks earlier to Magnus came off as such, but I do think
it is
important that everyone learn about this issue in a frank and open forum.
