My question

It's just that in the wild, the bugs are eating their normal diet, making
them more nutritious, and the animals are utilizing the vitamins from the
bugs from the exposure to sunlight (except nocturnal, or course).

In captivity, we have to try to find a work around to the bugs not being
gutloaded nature's way - that's where supplements come in......

Not with leos, but my other geckos like it. I also give my crickets calcium
in a bowl, and they eat it, so I'm hoping to build a better cricket:)
