I really would like to know what is going on with the USPS.  I've been shipping with them for over a decade without any problems, but it now seems like policies are changing, or are they?  I'm pretty confused about the whole situation.

This is unclear. I think they are just as confused as we are. It will take some time for them to figure out which end is up. I think the USPS situation, which was good before the Fedex deal, may really be a compromised situation if they ever get back to shipping live. Today the official word was still no go. When Fedex took over, our gex where forced to go on whatever commercial airlines they could hitch a ride on, some airlines are ok with live, some are not. Now even more may not be ok with it.

It's getting harder and harder to ship these days, and getting shipments by next day is almost impossible.

UPS says otherwise, and I am anxious to put them to the test.

I shipped via Airborne Express a couple of times this summer without ANY problems. I know they are not supposed to ship live animals except for tortoises, harmless insects, and frogs.  I'm really happy for those individuals who keep these animals, but I want to know who ships geckos.  I guess the local Airborne office did not know about this policy since they happily accepted my package marked "live harmless lizards."  I don't think that I will be so lucky in the future.  Any suggestions?

Hmmm. Well, shipping as often as I do, I would use Airborne as an alternative when USPS could not do overnight. I'd say 6 out of 10 times lately they have still arrived second day, and not without a lot of screw-ups. I had one situation in AZ where a gecko rode around with the idiot driver all day and back to the Airborne substation. Once he arrived there this rocks for brains marked the box returned to sender and went home. That was a first!

My tip is for folks to set up whatever accounts they can arrange, right now that is UPS and Airborne.
