I spoke last night to an acquaintance who is a postal inspector about the
shipping situation, trying to find out if he knew or had heard anything
(since I have never shipped and have only once had live animals shipped to
me, I was asking out of mere curiosity and pure ignorance, I guess).

What he had to say about the USPS is pretty much what everyone who has spoken
to his or her local postmaster has reported here: the airlines with whom the
USPS has contracted calls the shots. He did note that poultry breeders in
Iowa are very upset.

Ironically, I have just reached the point where I am interested in purchasing
animals from breeders in different parts of the country. With everything else
we have to worry about these days, whether or not we can buy mail order
geckos seems pretty insignificant; but isn't it great we live in a country
where that can be an issue for some of us?

God Bless America!

John
